I have been consulting to the Chinese Government on economic modernization and market reform continuously since 1984 which, coincidentally, is the year I met my Chinese wife in Shanghai. We both work closely with China.
And let there be no mistake, when China makes up its mind to do something, it is able to marshal the resources to do so, and to achieve success in very significant ways.
We have seen that with 30 years of record economic progress. We have seen it with the Olympics and Paralympics.
If China decides to become a world class competitor in cricket, then it can accomplish it within a generation, simply based on the sheer number of people from which it can draw.
